In Robert Louis Stevenson's
"Treasure Island", the pirate Long John Silver had a parrot perched on his shoulder. The parrot was named Captain Flint. Ever since that tale, people have associated pirates with parrots. Well, Cassius likes to rest his muzzle on a shoulder during car rides. John says we have a parrot dog.
